Poppy Field

I recently received this Australian magazine "Felt" and was inspired by Moy Mackay's "Poppy Glen Project".  Here's my 14" x 17" wet felting which I plan to enhance with dimensional felted poppies and bead work.  Great magazine, full of fabulous articles, and features one of my favorite felt artists, Andrea Graham!

Koi Pond

I finally got to work on a wet felting project today. I love how loose wool fibers bind together to create fiber art.

Here's the start of the Koi Pond - two layers of white wool (colors are totally off - I guess 5am is too  early in the day for me to snap pics...

followed by black and dark blue layers

added the lily pads and koi...

took the fibers out on the deck and wet felted outdoors - a gorgeous summer day for felting!

  

Boo - the Black Lab

Custom feltworks are somewhat difficult at times.  Taking a 2-dimensional photo and transforming into a 3-dimensional wool sculpture is very challenging.

I hope to have captured Boo's likeness in this ~10" square custom pillow.

The Creeper

My Grandson is totally into playing Minecraft.  Having already purchased the majority of retail items for Christmas, I needed a new idea for his birthday.  I found a great pattern on the internet (http://www.instructables.com/id/Minecraft-Stuffed-Creeper-Doll/) for a stuffed Creeper...

I think/hope he'll like it.

Wrap Bracelets

I forgot to post the fun wrap bracelets that I've created (similar to the famous ones) at an affordable price.  Fun to mix-in with your bracelet collections.

Change of Pace... Origami Paper Folding

This flower is made of 60 sheets of 3" origami paper in 12 colors.  Lots of folding and attachment of petals created this fun dimensional flower...  Also in progress is an 8.5" square card stock paper flower.  30 sheets are complete - card stock is extremely hard to fold so I may not finish the other half...

Shhhhhh - surprise gift for a Sweet friend

shhhh... This wall hanging is a gift for my friend "Sweet Sue" owner of Harvard Sweet Boutique, Hudson, MA.  I downloaded the logo www.harvardsweetboutique.com and wet felted the background then needle felted the details...   Hope she likes it!

From poppy to posie

 I've adminred Gillian Harris' "field of poppies" wall hanging from her "Complete Feltmaking" book for years and decided to try a mini version...  Here are the results

initial wetting and rolling done, fibers are nicely felted ready to be worked without the bubble wrap

looking a bit too plain and the poppy petals weren't looking right

 so I needled some extra petals, added some beads in the center and turned the poppy into a posie... 

Heart Felt, or felted hearts...

I decided to make a small piece of felt (finished size 7" x 8") using the fibers shown and embed a layer of hearts, with one on the top layer...  Looks like another is trying to escape and join the the fun on top!

Big Lopsy

"Big Lopsy" a big lopsided looking fish....  This wet felted fish is ~ 15" long x ~12" tall

My Granddaughter has renamed this to "Tie Dye" a perfect name!

Blue Fish

Thanks Dr Seuss "One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish..."  Here's my wet felted "blue fish", wonder what color will swim by next...

Walkin' Pod

...after several months away from the studio I found some much needed inspiration from my teacher Andrea Graham and created this "Walkin' Pod"...

...and, they're slowly multiplying...

 

Ruby, re-do

I was asked to "plump up" "Ruby" the Black Lab needle felted pillow.  I was given a better photo of her and Voila - here are the before and after pics of "Ruby"... 

I'm thinkin' that the customer will be pleased.

Ruby, a beloved blind black lab,  recently passed...  Hope that this custom pillow brings joy and fond memories to the family.

"Winston" a Flanders Bouvier

This custom pillow has been in the works for quite some time.  I figured I needed to get her done.  I work from a photo image and add a little bit of humor...  Hope the customer will like the finished product!

Expressions of Love

I was extremely proud to have my "Nubble Light" felted wall hanging on display @Handworks Gallery of American Crafts in Acton.  The "Expressions of Love" exhibit   featured individual works by local artists and craftspeople made for, or to honor a loved one.
